Welcome...
Welcome to the website for Nyima Tashi Kagyu Buddhist Centre, a Karma Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Auckland, New Zealand.
Nyima Tashi Buddhist Centre
Nyima Tashi is to encompass more of an ecumenical
diversity to Buddhism in general by developing a 3 way approach:
Firstly to promote and foster interfaith/interdisciplinary courses and discussions covering a wider spectrum of buddhist methods and approaches as seen from the perspective of Tibetan, Zen, Theravadin, Tantric, Mahayana, and so forth, to foster dialog and initiate courses through instituting conferences and discussions through the individual discourses of invited teachers from all respective traditions.
Secondly to help promote a genuine understanding amongst an eclectic range of researchers, the integration of Western commentators on such topics as psychology, philosophy, and other sciences.
Thirdly to advance and preserve the philosophy and practices of both Kagyu and Nyingma, two of the oldest schools of Tibetan Buddhism, with a particular care given to the unfolding of the Kagyu tradition.
In order to bring about these objectives Nyima Tashi will move into a similar format to that of E-Vam Buddhist Institute in Melbourne, Australia and due to the proximity between the two countrys we may see more of a movement from overseas teachers that visit K.E.B.I. make the journey to Auckland.
