For dedicated practitioners, receiving direct guidance from a Tibetan retreat master of this depth of experience is a truly rare and profound opportunity. Visit Details Nyima Tashi is deeply honoured to welcome Drupon la to Auckland for a five-day visit in September, tentatively scheduled for 16–20 September 2026.Drupon-la is a senior Kagyu meditation master, a long-time retreat guide at Yushu Thrangu Monastery, and the appointed teacher of the 10th Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche. He will lead the retreat and teach traditional practices from the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Bio Drupon Rinchen Tsering Drupon Rinchen Tsering was born in 1969 in Kampa Yushu State, Eastern Tibet. At 16, he became a monk at Yushu Thrangu Monastery in Qinghai and began to receive training and study in Buddhism in traditional Kagyu monasteries. Up until 1989, Drupon-la went to the Pelpung Monastery in eastern Tibet to receive Bhikshu ordination in front of His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche and received all the empowerments, oral transmissions, and Buddhist teachings of the Kagyu sect for three consecutive months. In 1994, he completed the profound teachings of Supreme Yoga Tantra, and since then, Drupon-la has become a meditation guru at four retreat centers at Yushu Thrangu monastery in Qinghai. During these retreats, there are more than 300 monks that are under Drupon-la’s guidance. In addition, Drupon-la is also responsible for the management and spiritual guidance of the 400 monks living at the monastery, and is one of the monastery’s most important teachers. In 2008, Drupon-la was invited by Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche IX in Melbourne to lead Western students in different retreat courses, including: Vajravarahi, Chakrasamvara, Guru Padmasambhava, and the Six Yogas of Naropa. In April 2015, under the guidance of Drupon-la, the first three-year and three-month retreat in Melbourne was finally completed. If you have to cancel either one or all of your suggested courses, we offer you a credit to your account if you cancel before 48 hours. However, if you do not cancel prior to the 48 hours, you will lose the payment regarding your chosen course.
