SHAMATHA

An in depth approach to meditation

Nyima Tashi Buddhist Center

Service Description

Samadhi refers to meditation , and when translated it means "steady thought", thoughts become steady instead of wavering. When we sit in shamatha we are sitting with whatever comes to mind in an unperturbed fashion. As is said, there is nothing wrong with thinking only holding onto what we think,, so when we are settled thoughts do not bug or elate us anymore, we simply see them for what they are, If we are unaware of what hinders our progress in terms of meditation , then these adventitious moments create obstacles, understanding what the barriers are equips us with an insight that allows the mind to not only settle but to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. We hope that you can join us as we unravel the many hindrances that impact our meditation and restrain us from gaining freedom for our conditioned habit patterns and preferences. Zoom available
