Introduction to the Art of Sitting Meditation

Updated: Jun 6

A free course – offered on Saturday 24th February from 10-11am

If you are relatively new to meditation we hope that you may find something of interest in this

Bring all of your Questions, doubts and apprehensions with you

Meditation could be said to be a technique ,a form of training that allows the mind to become more flexible ,accommodating and stable,  so in one sense  you could say that meditation is a way of training the mind to be less disturbed and reactive by learning how to be with the dynamic vitality of the mind.

We do not have autonomy , control over what arises in the mind, what thoughts and feelings manifest during meditation and  quite often people become overwhelmed by their experiences, so often we do not want to experience what arises, so meditation becomes overwhelming. What meditation does is that it provides the infrastructure that allows us to sit with what arises, So if we do not know how to be with what arises then meditation can become quite combative.

When one engages in meditation the Mind opens , we begin to create  a little spaciousness amidst our habitual clutter which enables us to go beyond one’s conditioning , one’s limitations, one’s obstacles and one’s own level of self deception.

But if we do not cultivate that aspect then there will always be things we are trying to deal with or conceal. If these things go unnoticed  then we continue to struggle.
